Having a long history in Black Rock City the post office has become such an established institution many Burners view it as not only an essential service but also as being integral to the character of BRC. As with every long-term institution of social and cultural significance the post office has evolved over time as a result of both successes and errors. 2008 marks a major new chapter in this ongoing story. We have heard and heeded the voice of our community speaking clearly for progressive change and are responding with a number of constructive radical improvements to the physical layout of the post office, the way post office personnel interact with BRC community members, and indeed to the very concept of the post office itself. History is useful for past reference yet we are now moving forward to envision and create a bold new positive paradigm for our future.
